DS-2011 Harlequin
Commissioned by de Sede to reimagine an existing design from its collection, the project focuses on the DS-2011, a sofa whose distinctive construction and enduring character have made it a longstanding icon of the brand. The intervention draws attention to the expert craftsmanship and materiality of the piece, emphasizing the individual leather panels that define its structure and form.
The Harlequin edition uses a bold color palette to make these discrete sections visible, creating a vibrant yet restrained reinterpretation of the original design. Referencing the abstract color-block compositions of Johannes Itten, Sarah Morris, and Heimo Zobernig, the arrangement introduces a contemporary perspective while preserving the sofa’s recognizable silhouette.
The campaign extends this dialogue by placing the sofa within Swiss landscapes and historic interiors, highlighting the relationship between de Sede’s tradition of craftsmanship, its cultural heritage, and a distinctly contemporary sensibility.
