Identity

ISOLARII is a series of 7 x 10,7 cm, genre-bending books that create a growing archipelago of unique works by today’s avant-garde figures. Alongside the publications, ISOLARII commissions and produces ongoing public projects, which have included a Turner-prize nominated environmental campaign and the Ukraine pavilion at the 56th Venice Biennale in partnership with the office of President Zelenskyy. The challenge was to frame the vast disparity of the series as a cohesive visual whole. Beginning with a custom typeface, trim-size, and layout, we built a recognizable system that could accommodate the shifting tone and content of each text. In addition to the design of the publication itself, the campaign images brought its complexity to light, blurring the line between commercial advertising aesthetics and artistic photography to engage with the critical tone of the series.
